Singapore, April 23 2025 – XPANCEO, a deep-tech company pioneering the next generation of computing via smart contact lenses, is unveiling two of its most advanced prototypes in their Asian debut at GITEX Asia, one of the region’s largest innovation showcases. These prototypes represent critical milestones in XPANCEO’s mission to merge next-generation materials science with human-centric design, paving the way for a fully functional smart contact lens prototype by the end of 2026.
The first prototype introduces a breakthrough in wireless power transfer, delivering twice the range of existing solutions of similar size while maintaining a flexible, lightweight, and safe form factor. Calculated radiation levels are comparable to everyday consumer wearables, such as headphones. The extended range enables the contact lens to be charged via a compact, portable companion device—a key step toward making smart lenses truly practical for everyday use.
The second prototype represents a major leap forward in augmented reality integration, featuring a built-in microdisplay and microprojection system. Unlike previous XPANCEO prototypes that required external image sources, this innovation projects visuals directly from the contact lens into the user’s retina, allowing the eye to naturally focus on ultra-close imagery with a 52-degree field of view. Exhibition visitors will be able to experience this AR output firsthand in immersive, real-world demos ranging from interactive gaming to retail scenarios.
The debut of these prototypes in Asia underscores XPANCEO’s commitment to translating visionary science into practical, wearable solutions that will reshape how people connect with technology.
Behind these innovations is XPANCEO’s team of product-driven executive leaders and world-class R&D in atom-thin 2D materials, nanophotonics, and nanooptics. XPANCEO was founded in 2021 by Roman Axelrod, an experienced entrepreneur with three successful exits, and Dr. Valentyn S. Volkov, a scientist with an h-index of 43 and over 9500 citations in leading international publications. Additionally, 50 percent of the company’s scientific team holds a PhD degree. XPANCEO has established collaborations with distinguished scientists from renowned universities across the globe, including the National University of Singapore.
XPANCEO is a proud member of the AR Alliance — The AR Alliance enables collaboration among all member companies worldwide to speed innovation of breakthrough technologies and processes for building AR wearables and devices that create a meaningful and positive experience for users.
